 | July 2001 Kaspersky Labs announces the successful completion of testing resulting in Kaspersky Anti-Virus receiving the international Checkmark certificate testifying to the product's high quality and reliability.
Anti-virus testing is conducted in three stages, with the program being assigned the relevant certificate for each level successfully passed. The first stage (Checkmark Level 1) verifies that an anti-virus is able to detect all viruses "in the wild." The virus list is maintained by the independent international organization "Wildlist" (www.wildlist.org) and includes only those viruses that have caused actual infections to occur on users' computers.
Kaspersky Anti-Virus successfully completed the first stage of testing for detecting all viruses "in the wild," receiving the Checkmark 1 certificate. |
|
 | July 2001 The third stage (Checkmark Trojan) is proof that the anti-virus is able to correctly detect all Trojan horses from the West Coast Labs collection including the most often encountered malicious programs of this type.
The testing process includes the checking of anti-virus scanners (on-demand scanners) and monitors (on-access scanners), and the functions must not raise any false alarms, meaning they must not falsely detect a malicious program in an clean object.
Kaspersky Anti-Virus performed excellently at this level of testing and earned the Checkmark Trojan certificate. |
|
 | July 2001 The successful completion of the second stage of testing (Checkmark 2) confirmed Kaspersky Anti-Virus' ability to treat viruses from the "Wildlist."
This implies that the file contents and boot sectors are restored to their original operating capacity.
